Registration Age Breakdown

AYSO uses birth year registration in order to align with other  American youth soccer program providers interpretation of the U.S. Soccer Player Development Initiatives.

Age determination shall be the player's age as of December 31 of the Membership Year.  For example: For membership year 2023 the child will be placed in the division based on their age on December 31, 2023. 

How does it really work? Registration for MY2023 for a player that is presently 11 and turns 12 at any time in 2023 will be in the 12U division.  If a player is presently 12, but turns 13 during the fall of 2022- or in 2022, s/he will be in 14U, unless a program has a 13U division.
